Dan Hatt, IALD, LEED AP
Dan has been a lighting, electrical power, and fire alarm designer with Peterson Guadagnolo Consulting Engineers PC since September 2002. On his most recent large capital project, he was the principal lighting, electrical, telecom, fire alarm, and electronic security designer for a $50M renovation to a higher education student center that was completed in late 2020. Additionally, he has been the lead lighting and electrical designer for over 50 major, multi-million dollar higher education building renovation projects, ranging from high-rise dormitories and historical building renovations to the complete re-lighting of a local higher ed sports arena, several higher ed science buildings, to office buildings, and a communication school. As has become common in current building requirements, many of these projects included extensive telecommunications and audio/visual systems with videoconferencing and distance learning capabilities that he designed.
Beyond his higher education work, Dan has also designed multiple industrial plant electrical renovations including complete service replacements and several arc flash hazard studies. He has also been the principal designer on several emergency generator installation projects.
Dan is a graduate of The College of Wooster, Ohio, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre, with a focus on technical and lighting design. Prior to joining Peterson Guadagnolo Consulting Engineers PC, he helped produce numerous entertainment and theatrical productions, ranging from multi-million dollar parades to rock and roll road tours at Walt Disney World, to productions with automated stage settings at a major theatre in Boston. From this and other work, he gained a strong background in lighting and electrical design, and CAD drafting.
Dan is a LEED Accredited Professional (NC 2.2) and a NICET Level 3 fire alarm systems engineering technologist. In 2009, Dan was awarded the designation “LC”, Lighting Certified by the National Council on Qualifications for Lighting Professionals (NCQLP). Dan obtained his International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) certification in 2023.
