Derek is a 1996 graduate of Syracuse University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Derek started as a student intern with PGPC in 1995, where he served as an Owner’s Field Representative on district steam and building renovation projects. Since joining PGPC, Derek has been involved in civil, site work, HVAC and plant design projects and he became Vice President in 2006.
Derek is a member of the International District Energy Association (IDEA), the National Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), American Water Works Association (AWWA) and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
Derek was named President of the firm in December 2022.

Vice President
Joseph P. McCauley, P.E.

Joe is a 2010 graduate of Clarkson University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Joe started as a student intern with PGPC in 2008. Over the course of two summers as a student intern, Joe assisted on several projects ranging from a central chilled water plant expansion, elevator modernizations, fire protection projects, and a university science building renovation. As a mechanical engineer, Joe is heavily involved in elevator modernizations, industrial plant work, building HVAC design, and site utility upgrades.
Joe is a member of the International District Energy Association (IDEA), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).

Joe became a partner at PGPC in December of 2019 and was named Vice President of the firm in December 2022.

Principal
Chad E. Loomis, P.E.

Chad is a graduate of Tompkins Cortland Community College where he attained his Associates of Science Degree in Engineering Science. Chad recently returned to the firm as a Professional Engineer, having previously worked for PGPC from February 1994 through November 2004 where he performed electrical design work, specializing in lighting, fire alarm, secondary electrical distribution, and standby power.
Chad was a Senior Electrical Engineer at Cornell University from 2004 to 2011, and then transitioned into a Senior Associate Director position in Student & Campus Life (SCL) Facilities Management from 2011 to 2019. From 2019 until June 2022, Chad was the Director of Operations at Dartmouth College for the Facilities Operations and Management Group.
Chad has been a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) since 1995 and has served on the Syracuse Chapter as a Board member and as President; he also led a revision to IES Recommended Practice RP-3 (Lighting for Educational Facilities). Chad has been a National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) member since 2000 and serves as a member on the National Committee for NFPA 110 (Emergency Power Supply Systems).
