This project was a multi-million dollar complete replacement of the exterior lighting system at the Dome, completed soon after the Dome’s air supported roof was replaced with the now iconic ribbon superstructure that supports the new metal roof. Color changing LED lighting was used, allowing for a wide variety of lighting scenes, active lighting chases and special effects. Extensive lighting calculations were performed prior to construction to verify the design’s performance. The design required the creation of new lighting positions with structural steel outriggers to effectively uplight the superstructure columns and ribbon truss.
